Boca do Sapo

2nd place at Cerrado Mapping Festival 2025. Authorial videomapping inspired by the roots of the Cerrado, for the theme "Deep Roots: the upside-down forest".

Nothing grows in the void, everything sprouts from the roots is a videomapping piece created especially to dialogue with the theme "deep roots: the upside-down forest" of the Cerrado Mapping Festival. Inspired by the hidden strength of the Cerrado's roots, the piece turns the facade into a living organism: from the dry soil and its cracks, roots sprout and cross through the concrete, evoking not only the biome's natural resilience, but also the stories, affections and struggles of the communities that inhabit these lands.

In every scene, visual and sound elements celebrate ancestry, popular culture, resilience in the face of adversity, and the Cerrado's essential role in the balance of water and climate. The piece proposes a poetic, sensory immersion: between the silence of drought and the explosion of life, it reveals that everything that flourishes is born underground — from what connects, sustains and renews.

Here, the void is fertile ground for rebirth. The roots — visible and invisible, natural and cultural — remind us that the Cerrado's strength lies, above all, in what remains standing beneath the earth.
