Cores que Cantam, Dragões que se Devoram
Installation for the Museum of Image and Sound of Ceará based on the work of painter Chico da Silva. 28 min, on view for six months.
The audiovisual project we propose takes on the challenge of interpreting the work and part of the life of Chico da Silva and the Escola do Pirambu in an environment fully taken over by digital technology. This piece is conceived for a space and an audience that demand enchantment through movement, form, sound — a fluid narrative that expands the artist's original work. Reproducing in 2023 a trajectory as rich and important to art from Ceará as that of Chico da Silva required me, as an artist, to go a little further than simply exhibiting his paintings and his image: I found myself compelled to appropriate his work, to borrow a piece of his trajectory, his brush, his canvases, and apply them to this new environment that goes beyond the boundary of the conventional screen — a multi-screen environment, a space of immersion. My greatest challenge was trying to create a dialogue between artistic periods, schools, techniques and languages.
The script and artistic concept of this project were conceived to give the participating audience a dynamic, sensory experience — one that presents part of the work and the trajectory through fragments, collages, and sound stimuli that dialogue with the essence created by the artist. Here, colors, textures, elements from the paintings and the techniques used are reproduced in this audiovisual piece to bring the audience closer not only to the figures themselves, but also to the key characteristics that mark the relevance these artists hold for the field of art in Ceará.
